Everyone should eat healthy. A diet refers to the kind of food and drink that one chooses to eat. To maintain a healthy and happy life, our daily intake of food should be chosen wisely. As it’s an old saying, “You are what you eat.”
A balanced diet gives us the energy and nutrients to lead a healthy and prosperous life, while on the other hand, prolonged intake of unhealthy food can result in many health complications, which can eventually affect your lifestyle.
Healthy food contains all of the vital nutrients to carry out life processes, therefore, if we want to consume a complete, healthy diet, our plate should have all of these vital ingredients in exact proportion. These ingredients include:
- Grains
- Meat/eggs and beans
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Dairy products
Grains contain carbohydrates, which in turn give us the energy to carry out life processes.
Meat/Eggs and Beans contain proteins, which help us to repair our bodies and build strong muscles.
Fruits contain vitamins and minerals, such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and potassium, which help our body to function properly, and keep us from falling sick.
Vegetables also contain some of the necessary vitamins and minerals, like, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Zinc – all of these are equally important in maintaining a healthy body.
Dairy Products contain calcium (a type of mineral) – which helps us to build strong teeth and bones. Everyone should eat a healthy diet.
Besides a balanced diet, we need to exercise regularly, to keep our body and mind healthy. Eating too much fats, oil and sugary food can be harmful to our health and can result in complications, such as being overweight, having heart disease, and problems with our teeth.
Everyone wants to have a long and healthy life but there are only a few who actually work hard to achieve this goal. It’s an old saying that “Health is Wealth”. Hence it is up to us to value this precious wealth and work towards achieving a healthy and quality life.
